the one with the Cepica Family

Meet the Cepica Family!

I first met them 23 years ago when Graham + Grant were babies! And recently, the boys contacted me about a gift certificate for their mom for a special occasion. Might have been Christmas, I can’t remember. I met them for family photographs and had the BEST time! Graham is moving to Ft. Worth for a new job and we wanted to document their backyard and this time together.

GREAT JOB, Cepica Family!

Love does,
Kristin

the one with the Miller Family's Christmas session

Such a sweet family! I know I’ve said this before, but everyone should include the ENTIRE family in their family photography session. INCLUDING THE FUR BABIES! The Miller Family even had Christmas hats for their babies!

20201230_001254.jpg

Sweet baby Cecilia turns one and the Miller Family needed photos to celebrate and document the occasion. She is the cutest little girl! She was a bit timid about me hanging out with her family, but she quickly warmed up to my camera and we had a lovely time.

Mom and Dad have their hands full with this baby and the fur babies in the house. They rescued this batch and I was very impressed. Many times rescue dogs can be timid or scared, but not this bunch! Well, maybe scared of the hats, but me? No way! I got lots of doggie kisses!

Kristin

the front porch session with Danette and her pretty tree

20200325_04805.jpg

It’s spring here in West Texas! Just look at those gorgeous colors above! LOVE! When I started the Front Porch Sessions, Danette immediately signed up. She just got it, you know? The idea of this time in our lives and working from home, social distancing, etc. and how we needed to remember this, and she agreed that a photo would totally help with documenting how important and unique this situation is. Thank you Danette! Here’s a little bit about her in her words. I think many of you are Cooper Peeps and you’ll recognize her immediately!

Kristin

Tell me about your family. Names, ages, jobs, etc. Anything that tells us a bit about you. : I’m a widow and mom to three adult children and “CeCe” to my sweet grandbaby. Sadie is one of my four grand dogs. She keeps me company while her “dad” is getting started in a career.
When I’m not walking Sadie, I’m in front of my computer crafting messages for donors, faculty, staff and students at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

How has this virus effected your family?: I’m now working from home so Sadie and I are spending more quality time together; but we miss the rest of the family - who all live elsewhere in Texas.

What's been the best thing about social distancing with your family?: There is no one but me (and Sadie), so I just do me.

What's been the hardest challenge during this time?: Sorting through the COViD-19 news that is non-stop.

Do you personally know someone with the virus?: No, so thankful my family and friends as safe so far.

the one with Misti's front porch session

20200324_02755.jpg

Tell me about your family. Names, ages, jobs, etc. Anything that tells us a bit about you. : Carson, 17 junior
RZ, 15 freshman
Brantley, 14 8th grade

How has this virus effected your family?: It has been a blessing in disguise by not having a jammed packed schedule. Of course their social life has ended, I want to think they enjoy the puzzle time and mom working from home 😀. They talk about how they are going to be a part of history and will be able to tell their kids about the day sports ended and they were stuck in the house.

What's been the best thing about social distancing with your family?: Everyone (except dad) is home and they have enjoyed sleeping in.

What's been the hardest challenge during this time?: Not spending time with family or friends. Worried about others that are in need and those that are sick. I worry about the families I work with and the stress they are under not knowing how they will pay bills or have food to eat.

Do you personally know someone with the virus?: No thank goodness...but I do think it will happen.

the one with the FREE front porch sessions

IMG_2666.jpeg

FREE sessions. Yep. You read that right. FREE.

COVID-19 has changed our lives. We are cooped up in our homes together and not allowed to keep the routine of our lives. We have changed. CHANGED our lives as we once knew.

Me? I’ve got a camera and a will to document this time in your life. So, I thought why not document the family on their front porch?

If you’d like to participate, here are the details.

  • Email me for a time slot. The sessions take place on your front porch, and depending on where you live, it can be almost any time the sun is up. I will keep a safe distance at all times, using a long lens to make kick-butt images of your family.

  • Dress up if you want or simply come outside as you are to document this time in your life. Fully dressed is not required. HELLO! These are crazy times! You decide how you want your portrait to look. (no nudity please…do I even have to type that?)

  • We will spend a few minutes creating a family portrait. Not much longer then 10-15 minutes depending on if your pets are included or anyone is close to the age of 2. You know who you are.

  • In a couple of days, you will receive a link to access your pictures.

  • Choose your favorite and we will email you a link to download.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking…

the one with the Hanson Family

20191223_00383.jpg

This family, The Hanson’s are Devin’s cousins from Wisconsin. There were here over the Christmas season and I got the chance to photograph them! I LOVE photographing families!!!

Devin’s family is big on tradition. Mainly the tradition that we need to get together and hang out every other Christmas. It’s like a BIG THING. And they expect you to come. They truly do. I like that though. Family is important. Especially when they are cool like the Hansons.

Love these guys! If your family is getting together any time soon, give me a call. It’s so much fun to just hang out together and laugh and enjoy each other.

Love Does,

Kristin

the one with the Payne Family

A family sessions should never be a pain in the ass, it should be a fun memory that you think about every-time you see the photos from the session.

20191124_04928.jpg

the one with the Payne Family

how cute are these grands? HELLO!

After sessions, many times I hear the words, “thank you. That was fun!” The moms tell me the kids wanna do it again, even dad wants to do it again. And I smile and think to myself, “who was the photographer that made them painful? And awful?” A family session should make you happy and create a memory in your head of your crazy beautiful family together, enjoying themselves and laughing. Full of love! That’s what a family session should be.

The Payne Family made an effort during the Holidays to get together and make a memory.

I left the house to go to my session last night and didn’t give it much thought. It was later, as I was composing photos in the field that it hit me. TAYLOR IS HAVING A BABY! It kind of took my breath away for a good solid minute. It’s CRAZY to think this beautiful girl that I’ve watched grow up is going to be a momma. WOW. And what a beautiful momma she is!

the one with Ellis' family at the Lubbock Garden and Arts

kristin_bednarz_photographer_20190615_01196.jpg

This is Ellis. She belongs to the Bernstein Family. She has a sister and a mom and dad. An Uncle and then her grandparents. (I think we called them Lolee and Pops? did we Kendra?). Anyway, we all got together for a family photo because her grandparents are celebrating 35 years of marriage. WOW! Then, when we all met at The Garden and Arts in Lubbock, who walks up and starts texting me? Lane Baker! That’s who! He’s a Cooper Kid that was in my oldest daughter’s class, CLASS of 2012. I never put the two together! And I’ve known his mom + dad for years. Thought the world of them, because their cool and fun and not in the least bit way, pretentious. I think Leslee + Lyndal introduced us. Maybe Lori? Anyhoo, small world.

Ellis wasn’t having it.

It was hot, muggy and there were mosquitos.

We had messed up her nap routine and then, we wanted her to “give up the Passy”. UGH! Not even happening. But I know how hard it is to get families together. And let alone, all dressed up in the same location. And family photos are important dang it! So, I asked everyone to hang tight. Be patient and let’s wait and see what we get.

The back of her head.

That’s what we got.

LOL

Eventually she came around and I managed to get a few photographs of her interacting with her family . And I made the family promise me that the next time they are all together, chilling in the back yard, cooking and visiting, INVITE ME. I’ll bring my camera and we’ll try again.

Love Does,

Kristin

the one with the Nichols Family

kristin_bednarz_photographer_20181225_01626.jpg

Okay, so the kids in the photo above aren’t looking at me or the camera. Does that bother you?  Because it doesn’t me. This was taken 2 days after Christmas and they were honestly “not having it”. You know what that it. Right?  Not having it means they don’t give a poop about me and the photo and only really want to run around, hug mommy, play anything other then photos. The Hoidays are HARD. HARD people. HARD

but, they are so worth it. Keep scrolling and you’ll see an array of laughs and love and most of all, memories. Family is important. Document it and don’t put so much pressure on yourselves to take the perfect photo. Instead, create YOUR photos by simply enjoying each other.

Thank you, Nichols Family for sharing your family with me. I LOVE how these turned out!!!

Mans if you are reading this and will have your family all together sometime soon, call me. Let’s plan your next family session.

Love + Laughter,

Kristin

the one with the Garcia Family out at Kitalou

kristin_bednarz_photographer_20181125_10473.jpg

How cute is this little cowboy? OMGEEEE!!! I photographed his Aunt and Uncle’s wedding a couple of years ago and he wasn’t even born yet. We all go together in the cold wind of West Texas and I met them at Kitalou Gin to keep us all warm. I’m loving the light there and photographing there. They are AWESOME!

Photographer’s if you are reading this, contact them on their website. They are now offering day shoots for those times just like this. When it’s windy, or cold, or you simply need a cool place to photograph a bride or a family. It’s a wonderful venue that you will totally fall in love with! A great resource for West Texas.

Meanwhile, enjoy this sneak peek of this beautiful family!

the one with the Reed Family

kristin_bednarz_photographer_20181124_08952.jpg

I first met this family last year when I had the pleasure of photographing them in their home for a magazine they were featured in. I quickly realized they were “my kind of peeps” in that the love to have fun together and aren’t afraid to let their goofiness show. It only makes everyone love them all the more! Their oldest, Grace was home on Thanksgiving break, so we took the opportunity to photograph their family for Christmas Cards. THEY ARE AWESOME. That’s all I can say. Just scroll through these images and tell me you don’t want them to adopt you.

I’ll admit it. Getting your family all together in one place is a HUGE pain in the ass. Everyone complains, things go wrong, like clothes not fitting, or not clean or gosh forbid, a PIMPLE breakout! It’s just too much to handle sometimes.

However, if you do this, if you push through, you get a picture of all of you happy and clean in one place, happy. And every time you see it on your wall, in your iPhone, etc, you will be happy. And your heart will as well.

The remainder of my 2018 calendar is filling up quickly. Don’t hesitate to reach out and contact me so we can get your family scheduled.

Love Does,
Kristin

And The Barron Family? They KILLED IT! We had so much fun together laughing and just enjoying each other. LOVE THEM!!!

the one with the Watters' Family

kbedz_lubbock_photographer_20180905_0154.JPG

I’ve always wanted a BIG family. BIG. HUGE. Like Cheaper by the Dozen type of family. The chaos and craziness of big families just attracted me and I wanted to be in one, adopted by one. LIVE WITH ONE. God didn’t bless me with more then 2, so my family is a family of 4 and I love it so. We have the BEST times together! And maybe one of my kids will have a big family and I can move in with them? No?

Meet the Watters’ Family. Reed, on the left above, may look familiar. I’ve worked with him before. He was featured as a Jr. Achiever in one of the neighborhood magazines I work for. Super great kid and when photographing him, I got to see the rest of the Watters Gang. So, when his mom called to ask me to photograph their family, I definitely jumped at the chance! HELLO! They are the cutest family!!! 'So much spunk and energy and these kids SCREAM with personality!

I’m sharing the rest of these in black and white. I edited both ways, but was trying out a custom preset in Light Room. I’m always searching for the perfect one. Not sure it exists. Tweak and tweak some more.

Kristin
