the one where Katherine marries Josiah
The minute I met Katherine and her mom, (at Taco Villa, I might add. How cool is that?) I knew I had to photograph her wedding! Just to hear her thoughts about weddings in general, and her thoughts about her own wedding, plus her eye rolling and sarcastic comments, plus hearing her talk about Josiah and ALL THE THINGS country, I just knew it! Her wedding would be one I would love to witness and photograph. It did not disappoint! Here’s my quick notes…
Katherine, arrived on her wedding day in her pickup truck. She backed into a parking space in front of the Baker Building with everything one could possibly need for a wedding day. Or a ranch, you pick.
She did her own makeup and kicked ass doing it.
She had an amazing playlist of music, COUNTRY that is old and new and just plain kick ass. Of course there was an awesome country band playing at her reception, but when they took a break? The music did not stop! I toe tapped all night dancing with my cameras! She knows music and I enjoyed every bit of it!
Yellow tulips were perfection and her mom did an awesome job decorating those two farmhouse tables you will see below for her guests and family members. It was beautiful!
Her dress was the perfect simplicity for her tiny frame AND elegant as heck to boot! (pun intended)
The Baker Building which is where the wedding was held, is still old and charming, despite everyone’s thoughts about the dark walls. They recently painted it a dark navy color. I thought they were wonderful, but what do I know? I just photograph weddings. I’m sure for someone NOT wanting navy at their reception it could be a turnoff. I could see that. But have you seen my kitchen? Just google Sherman Williams, Naval and you’ll know what I’m talking about. I love a good dark.
Glass and candles and flowers are all you really need to be pretty. Oh, and good friends to custom build you an arbor to get married under. And to move it to and from ceremony site despite it weighting I’m sure 100’s of pounds. Man, impressed!
Josiah and Katherine did a church exit immediately after the ceremony guests had moved outside. It was AWESOME! They tossed paper airplanes and confetti. At first, I was terrified of how the photos would turn out. HELLO! It was bright sun and facing the west. But dang! I LOVED how the photos turned out! So much joy and laughter you can FEEL it! Josiah is one of what, 10 siblings? Something like that. They were all there to celebrate with the couple and I just loved watching the brothers interact with each other.
Katherine kept her view on all night long! Didn’t plan to, it just happened and it was fabulous!
The fabulous Hanna did hair that day and did awesome of course. I always love seeing her and watching her create!
