the one where Jennifer + Matt get married on campus at Texas Tech

I have the coolest weddings. I seriously do. And I'll get to this fabulous wedding in just a bit. But first, for those of you interested in my work, Monterey Prom photos are done and now life can return to almost normal. There I said it. MONTEREY PROM IS DONE and I released that into the world. It's such a relief to get it out of my computer and on their gallery. WHEW!

Also, today is Devin's birthday!!!! YEAH!!! This typically means chocolate cake, grilling out and SWIMMING! I love his birthday!!! Or any birthday that involved this. The girls woke up and made him breakfast. Awww...ins't that sweet? His birthday always shares the week of Father's Day, and that's kind of a bummer that we can't spoil him spread out, but it is what it is. We shall roll with it.

I'm also working slowly through personal photos of Summer Zoe's graduation. WOW! I still can't believe my kids are grown. I feel so young as in they should still be in grade school or something. That is, I feel young until I pass in front of a mirror and then I'm struck by how old I really am. I don't feel that way one bit. I feel young. And for that I'm very grateful.

ONTO THE SNEAK PEEK!

Jennifer and Matt were married in a lovely ceremony on TT Campus. at the Kent R. Chance Chapel. Such a lovely place! Very modern yet somehow fits in on campus and feels like a part of Tech. I enjoyed shooting there! AND I got to work with the lovely Jill of Eat, Drink and be Marry. She's so good at what she does and FUN to boot! Keep scrolling down and you will find a cute little picture of us. As much as my generations hates selfies, I love them when a friend is involved.

To view more images from their wedding, CLICK HERE. I'm using a new gallery system for client's images and so far? LOVE IT! Let me know what you think, blog readers. Share and care.

Love does,

Kristin

YUM! Satin dresses are so lovely! Jen's was no exception! And HELLO! Corset gowns are such a pain to get in, but so worth it for the curves it brings out! Jennifer is curvy in all the right places and this gown showed that off in the BEST way! BRAVO Jen, for going through the pain. LOLThe hands in the image above make the shot! You can feel the nerves involved when a gown goes OVER the done hair. I'm just saying'...And mom below? Cindy, you were great throughout this process! I think my favorite MOB (mother of the bride) moment was at the reception, after Jennifer + Matt had left, I came back inside the Watson building and found you on the dance floor! So much fun!

Here's a great shot that shows the PAIN involved in getting the dress on. This girl's got game. Dress game. And such graceful lines! I love Jen's fingers as she was putting on her jewelry. And her sister? A great calming agent. Focus, Focus, Focus.

The smiles came out from that moment on! Matt had written her a sweet note. Hello, lovely doors at Kent R. Hance Chapel. I love you so.

Jennifer and Matt chose NOT to see each other. I'm honestly fine either way. But they did pray together before. And it was perfect. Okay, so maybe not perfect for Jennifer's makeup, but hey, she had time to fix it back after crying. This couple is putting God first in their lives and it was a blessing to witness and see!Hello, cute little fella who LOVES being in a tux. Am I right? I'm right. You love it!I want to say a little something about First Looks. I'm all for them. I'm all NOT for them. And it's because I'm all for a couple doing what THEY want to do. What best fits them and their beliefs, their personalities, their day. I'm a documentarian. I simply photograph what I see, what I feel, and use visual images to tell a story of the day. So, if you are reading this, getting married and unsure about what you should do, google it. There's a slew of articles out there discussing just this. And then you and your guy can discuss it and how it fits into your day and PLAN IT THE WAY THE TWO OF YOU WANT. The main thing? Communication with everyone involved and planning it according to the time. That's it. That is all.

Stepping off my soap box and looking at Matt's sweet face as he waits for his bride! LOVE!

Hello! Lovely chapel that painted their ceilings a pretty blue! And breathe, Jen, BREATHE! Yep. LOVES being a ring bearer!OH, stop my romantic heart! I love it when a guy touches a girl's face, neck, head, whatever and draws her into a kiss! LOVE! Thank you Matt. I'm stopping this sneak peek to just say,

MATT HAD THE COOLEST GROOM's CAKE EVER! The Hulk fingers are THE BEST!They celebrated their wedding with a reception at The Watson Building in Lubbock. I LOVE this place! We were fed, we were entertained with lovely toasts, and we danced the night away! It was a wonderful way to celebrate a great day!

Thank you everyone! And best wishes to the Happy Couple!!

the one where Matt + Holly get married

Did anyone else realize that I mistakenly blogged Matt + Stephanie instead of HOLLY in my last blog post? I've since corrected it, but you know? You may need to slow down a bit before you hit the send key once in a while, Kristin. LOL Too funny!

I got back from Matt + HOLLY's wedding yesterday afternoon. I stayed an extra day to photograph a senior in Melissa, Texas. I'll blog those soon, Miss Whitney, so stay tuned. But in the mean time, I just had to get these AMAZING photos to Matt + Holly and their friends and family. Super fun time!

They got married at The Wellington, in Wichita Falls, Texas which is a venue right beside our hotel. HELLO! Very simple and easy for me the photographer. My car hardly moved all weekend. Okay, so it went to a bar with a bunch of guys, but for the most part, didn't move.

The weekend consisted of many, many laughs along with quite a few tears. Mason, the groom's twin bother had the house in stitches with some talk of Woody, and we ain't discussing Pixar's Toy Story picture. Get me drift? He also made everyone cry during his "best man" speech with the tales of two brothers and how close these two were. It may have dragged on just a bit, but I still loved it! Thank you, Mason. Yes, it was several typed pages long, but those were good pages! And I enjoyed every single word.

These two are very well loved. It showed in how much effort family and friends gave to make sure they had a wonderful day! And they did! We all did. And I should mention that this wedding was way over a year in the planning. Holly made so much of the details herself. From the Photo Booth backdrop to the moss covered letters, every where you looked, she left her touch. Well done, my lady!

I woke up Sunday, worn out and exhausted and almost a bit bummed. Kind of like the depression that hits after Christmas? Yeah. Like that. And I realized it's because it's over. All over. I'm so very thankful we sat down in Chili's all those days ago and you chose me as your wedding photographer. I LOVED working with you. Hanging out with you. Sticking my foot in my mouth several times like I always seem to do and you not getting mad. I'm going to miss it.

Thank you, Matt + Holly.

Enjoy your sneak peek!

the one where Matt + Holly rehearse

I'm inWichita Falls for Matt + Holly's wedding. It's starting off stressful, as Matt's baby sister is undergoing emergency surgery and his Dad could not be here. Everything's up in the air still, depending on how she's doing, and even though we are close to Dallas, which is where she is, nothing in Texas is close. So prayers please! You plan these things for months and then things happen. There will still be a wedding! It just might not have all the key members you had hoped would be there to witness it. PRAYERS!

The weather is cooperating though and in West Texas you can NEVER plan for that. LOL Wonderful moment with the ring bearer right below. Such a cutie! But I'm not sure he was quite ready for his walk down the aisle with that cute flower girl! His reaction when hearing the news below. You can just hear him behind those hands, "A girl?!?!" LOL

Holly is gorgeous! Sunny and bright and beautiful! Plus she has lovely shoes. I always check out shoes folks. Even though I can't work in heels or wear them much anymore, I check them out! They are like trucks and wheels to small boys. LOVE a good pair of heels! The couple above? Bux + Gayla. Some of the MOST fun people on the planet and I've known them since I was Texan. Holly and Bux are siblings.

She beams! I love the way she smiles and laughs. In fact, now that I think about it, there's not a human being that I don't like smiling and laughing. And check out cute flower girl below. I think she's really trying to understand all this vow stuff. That face!

We all ended up here.

I must confess to thinking this place would be OK. You know OK. It fills the belly, tastes OK and works for what you need it to. But I was pleasantly surprised at just how OK the food was. Very tasty! Lots of options for veggie lovers and some cucumbers that were to die for! Not sure what they did to those bad boys, but my mouth was happy. Very happy. The drinks? OK. I'm not crazy about blue margaritas. But they tasted good. Just put off by the color. Oh, and when serving yourself the soft serve ice-cream? Be sure and push that butter pecan button. TO DIE FOR, folks! I inhaled it!Matt + Holly are getting married on Matt's Paw's birthday. So we had cake. It's always a good time when you have cake involved. After some quick poses, I said good night and headed back to the hotel. From the looks of facebook, some headed out to Krank It, a karaoke bar. How fun! I would have loved to wail to some good tunes, but needed to get some rest before our big day! I'm headed out to meet the girls in just a bit. Happy Wedding Day, you two!

the one with the wedding of Angelica + Paul at St. Austin's

To view the complete gallery, CLICK HERE. Use the couple's last names, bride first, lower case, smushed together to access. For example, Jane Doe and Jack Smith would be doesmith to access.BAM! What a ring, huh? Paul actually proposed with a different one. A family band because he wanted Angelica's to help choose the ring she would wear for her lifetime. She got to keep both, but I chose to share this because it is such a testament to Paul's caring way. He puts other's first. Always. Even me! He totally charmed his way into my heart without even realizing it just on the way he treats his family, his friends, and his bride.

I'm sharing a CRAZY amount of images today with you to set the mood, share the emotion, show the venues. It was a lovely celebration with crazy time delays, but wonderful love between all involved.

the one where Andi + Chad get married at The Savannah in Sulphur Springs

Okay the maids will not quit knocking on my hotel door. I think it's time I left Sulphur Springs and headed back to the LBK. Sigh...I was enjoying the coffee and warm weather. Oh, well. All good things must come to an end, right?

Last night was wonderful. Good times with all the folks you love. That's how you want your most important celebration of your life, right? Well, Andi + Chad did just that. I was just lucky enough to document it.

As always, you can view more images from the sneak peek wedding day on the WEDDING GALLERY BY CLICKING HERE. You will need to know the passcode, which is simply the couple's last names, lower case, smushed together. For example, if the bride is Jane Doe and the groom Johnny Smith, doesmith would be their passcode.

We started out our day with an AMAZING brunch at Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards. AMAZING! And I just don't say that all the time. This girl has had plenty of brunches in her life. AMAZING! I wanna go back, like NOW and devour more of the wild mushroom quiche. I must go back someday. MUST.

The bride's grandmother made us all cry with a wonderful speech about how much she has prayed for her grandchildren. It paid off with this one, for sure. Of course I took "mood pictures" to set the tone of the environment. Right? Yes. Right. I just chased the light folks, as always.

Cute little cookies that were passed out. LOVEThis was the moment when Grandma spoke. Can't you tell?Sisters always know how to handle each other. ALWAYS.And how pretty is this sister? YES. I totally got her skin are regimen folks. Haley always looks amazing. Even under yuchy lighting that makes the rest of look yellow and old, she manages to look bright eyed and dewey. If I didn't like her so much, I'd throw up on her. AMAZING skin! And the girl has a set of pipes. Yep. She sang at her sister's wedding.Off to the salon! Time to get our pretty on!Yes. I'll take one of these, please. She kept things simple, elegant, yet a touch of rustic, and most of all, gorgeous! Hello pretty bling!!!even did her own makeup. Of course, when you have big doe eyes like Andi does, you don't have to do much. They line themselves. We couldn't have asked for a prettier day! HELLO pretty blue skies! This shot below reminds me of Sex in the City. Cari's big bird veil thing to her first wedding where big ran out on her? Something about Andi SCREAMS European model. Oh, yeah, work it girl. WORK IT!Mom approves!Andi + Chad opted for a first look. I'm sure glad they did! The wind was blowing like crazy and it was best to photograph everything down hill by the "getting ready house". That way we didn't race the wind at the top of the hill where the barn and wedding were taking place.

I adore this shot of Chad below! Just taking it all in. I can be extremely funny at times. Hello, GORGEOUS!

WEDDING TIME!I love it when cute babies attend weddings. LOVE!And check out Mister Candlelighter there below! Nice job, Austin!I feel like Andi is telling dad to be sure and hold on tightly and catch her in case she falls. No?

Awww...Kaci with the cute adorable hair I love! Martina McBride ain't got nothing on this girl below. Sing it Haley! I happened to be listening to Martina when I was blogging today. She's actually got a recording contract and several number #1 records, but Haley, I'm still a HUGE fan. So yeah, maybe she does have a thing or two on you, but you ROCKED this wedding song!Great job, The Savannah!MARRIED!!!!!Okay, no more typing. I gotta leave this place. Catch you back in the LBK! Thank you Huffstetler family!!! And the Pickering Family!!! I had a wonderful time!!!!

the one with Andi + Chad's rehearsal at Land's End

Andi + Chad kicked off the weekend wedding festivities with a wonderful rehearsal celebration at Land's End. It was a beautiful night! And I'm enjoying all the little things that connect people and make th world a small beautiful place. I first met Andi at her sister's wedding back in 2007. Her sister Haley married Austin in Mt. Vernon, their home town. Fun weekend that was!

The groom is one of my long time friends, nephew. HELLO! Who knew? So, it's been fun catching up with her and meeting all her family. Also, the groom's sister, LIVES IN LEXINGTON, KY. My birthplace and where my dad lives now. HELLO! Fun world.

I won't stop the viewing...enjoy the sneak peek from their rehearsal! More images on the couples wedding gallery.

the one where Monica + Joe get married

It's been a great week! Last Wednesday, I left for the north to photograph a wedding in our family. The lovely lady above is Devin's cousin and I was so thankful she asked me to photograph her wedding! I photographed her sister's wedding, Valerie several moons ago and had so much fun with their family and friends, I knew a repeat was just what I needed. I jumped at the chance!

The wedding was held at Holy Redeemer Church in Madision. I think it's the one Joe and Monica might have attended together? Not sure on that one. But you can tell from the images below how beautiful this church is!

Hair and make up for the bride was done at Aniu Salon in nearby Middleton. They did a fabulous job! Monica looked gorgeous! And she wore a new gown. You may remember her sister wore an heirloom gown that had been passed down through generations. It didn't survive after the last wedding, so parts of it were used with Monica's new gown. It was FABULOUS!

I hope you enjoy the sneak peek!

the one where Monica and Joe rehearse getting married at Holy Redeemer Church in Madison

I'm in Wisconsin photographing a wedding at Holy Redeemer Church in Madison.

Have you ever been to WISCONSIN in the winter? Well, if you watch NFL football you know how crazy these sheepsheads are about getting out in the element and supporting their team! They know how to bundle up and go and be a part of the day!

I'm taking a cue from those Packer fans today and will be wearing snow boots at my wedding. HA! My cousin Monica is getting married to her love Joe and I'm the lucky girl that gets to photograph the wedding! YES! It's cold and I'm dealing well, but the fellowship is warm and I'm having a great time!

I'll post the wedding sneak peek when I get back next week. On a side note, Miss Marie is moving back to college this weekend. I'm sure gonna miss that girl!

the one with Megan + Andrew, a wedding at the Orchard in Azle, Texas

I'm blogging out of my normal timeline. I normally don't do that, but I needed a little extra time. My mom flew in on Saturday and any good girl in the US knows that when momma comes to town, all life stops. It's time for snacks on the couch, deep conversations and lots of laughs. It just never lasts long enough. In fact, I'm guessing any good girl outside the US knows this as well. Momma + Daughters are tight. Yep. TIGHT.

Anyway, Megan + Andrew got married!

That's the main point of this blog conversation. And I was lucky enough to photograph it. It was AWESOME! The venue was awesome, the people were awesome, the stuff I got to photograph? AWESOME.

Enjoy the sneak peek. :)

We started off the day at Megan's house. Without Andrew of course. Just the girls getting their glam on.

I love big curlers with pretty light! Makeup in the dining room, hair in the master bath. Worked great!Megan is a doll! This is Megan's mom. She has a funny story about love birds and wine. You should ask her sometime.

And this little peanut is the groom's niece. How cute is she? The location the couple chose is just north of Ft. Worth. It's GORGEOUS! And me and this tree above, forged a deep friendship based around beautiful images. I could barely keep my camera off this bad boy. It worked great for preformals. When you work a wedding that has the ceremony and reception at the same location, it's a plus-plus for me. Or is that a win-win? You get to see everything come together and sniff cake ahead of time. YES. I have a cake addiction. I'll admit it. I think this bible above is the bride's daddy's bible. Sweet little Jax carried it down the aisle.Lovely fall bouquet! And lovely 1/2 dressed groom! They exchanged gifts before the ceremony. Hand written notes were so sweet! Great moment for me to photograph.I think peanut was impressed by her uncle's composition capabilities. She seemed happy. And check out the fine groomsmen below. HELLO! Ready for their closeups.

Oh, sweet Jax! How you warm my heart! Back in the bride's room...Lots of expectations and conversations and TONS of "have you seen.. or where is..." It was wonderful chaos for me to photograph. I love that! But plenty of smiles and love as well.

Gorgeous dress!Megan's shoes were her something blue. Well done! And the bracelet below? It was her grandmother's necklace. How cool is that?We had ample time to step outside and grab some images before the ceremony. Love the purple with that gorgeous tree behind! And how sweet are these matching toes! Toes that can definitely run fast! I loved that I had some quick time to spend with the lithe peeps of this wedding! These peeps unite and take over the dance floor later. So much fun!Dad had a moment with his girl before the ceremony. LOVE!Okay, ribbons are a great idea! And I don't mind other's shooting photos if they look this cute doing it.And the walk! Every girls dreams about this. Walking towards her groom.I'm not sure Jax knew what was going on. But I love this shot all the same.We did!And he (above) did it!Such a pretty wedding party! And plenty of time and great light for some quick shots of the happy couple!

The reception was cold. I'm not gonna lie. But somehow, having the dance floor outside and everyone moving and jamming, it worked! It turned out perfect.Oh, and this couple! How could I forget. This guy knows every word to songs you and I have forgotten about. Rain in Africa for example. HELLO! Impressed. And I'm sure his date was as well. LOLPARTY!Congratulations you two! It was an AWESOME night!

the one with a second look

They canceled my treatment this week. Low platelets. So a week off AND my sister here at the same time! It's been AWESOME! But I have managed to get some major editing done.

I always get a sneak peek up right away after the wedding. It's what I do while backing up the files. I edit my favorites that I feel, tell the story of the wedding day. Well, later, when you go back and edit the remainder of the images, you find others that you love even more after going through the culling process.

That is what a "second look" is.

Enjoy this one!

the one where I discuss pre-formals

I believe in REAL moments. So I wanted to talk about photographs and how I approach a wedding getting those real moments. The pre-formals at my weddings typically take place BEFORE the ceremony, hence the "pre" in the word, pre-formals. It's dang important to get photos of you and those that matter in those moments before you walk down the aisle, say those words and then your life changes forever. I approach them always from a lighting standpoint. I want my subjects to look good, feel good and most importantly, not take forever. HELLO! Typically, pretty heels hurt and the last thing you want is hurt feet from posing for hours for your photographer. My pre-formals typically last 15-20 minutes for each side. I start with the guys and his family and then move to the bride's side. Most of my couples do not want a First Look. But remember, the wedding isn't about me, it's about the couple. I listen to what they want and work accordingly.

It's still my job to get those photos, I just try and make it as simple and easy as possible.

The photos I'm sharing here were taken in the room where the bride got ready. Normally, this doesn't happen, but this place had gorgeous lighting and HELLO! Air-conditioning!!! Gotta love that! This wedding was NOT in Lubbock, by the way. In Lubbock, you get horrible overhead lighting in the bride's room and typically no windows. So, I check out the surroundings and usually pull them outdoors or close to it for their pre-formals.

This is the bride and her dad and I removed the flowers so they could hold each other and just BE. It's just a few minutes, but this moment will be remembered for so much longer. Try and take the time to preplan where you need your subjects and make sure they are as comfortable as possible, enjoying those that matter to them the most.

The picture on the bottom right? Taken after the one below. Expression is priceless! I love this job!

Love Does,

I love the look in his eyes

This is Knox.

And yesterday was his 1st Birthday Party.

I've been in love with this face for a year now. He's so adorably cute I could totally eat him up!

He was enjoying his party yesterday and it was hot and so many people. He was happy just lying on the floor with a cold drink. I was making the tickle sound and he got the giggles. Oh, that sound of baby giggles! It's the best!
