Talk about a Happy Camper…that was me last Friday photographing the Lubbock Cooper Pirates Track Teams. Can I get an AMEN! And WOW! Talk about being sore today. My legs feel like they’ve done over 100 squats and that’s just from taking the individual photos from different angles. UGH. CRAZY! I may be out of shape, yes, but dang! I can still photograph a sports team.

the one with the LCMS Boys BB Teams
Coach Davis called needing basketball photos of the boys teams at Cooper Middle School. At least that’s what it was called “back in my kid’s days” and of course I jumped at the chance! I always laugh so much with kids this age! They aren’t afraid to be themselves and be goofy and just plain have fun. Of course I will admit to it being hard for them to listen. HELLO! But once they do, it’s so much fun!
I should note…
I have a new gallery software this year and yes, it’s geared toward’s weddings, but it’s still pretty darn cool and should help with all the problems I had last year getting emails to go through and notifying me when orders are placed. Of course there’s a few bugs to work out, but overall, it should be a good viewing/shopping experience.

the one with senior night at LCHS
Lubbock Cooper fell to Plainview last night in 2 hard-fought games. It was senior night for the 2020 graduates and I had the chance to be there to photograph. Sure love those Pirates!
Coach Lavorn texted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would cover LCHS Senior night. Of course as a retired basketball momma I said YES. And it was super cool this year because the boys and girls had their senior night together.
They played Plainview and both lost, but gosh, it was some dang good basketball!

When a Coach calls me to photograph middle school kids, like Coach Davis did last week, I get excited! Because after years of photographing this age, I’ve realized it will be the BEST day of my week. Heck, even month! Yes, it’s a lot of talking/chatting and urging on my part to get them to listen and do what we need, but then, when we’ve got what we need and I ask them for something else, they NEVER disappoint!!!

the one with LCHS Cross Country Team
Lubbock Cooper’s Cross Country Team, coached by Christie Parsley is gearing up for a great season! I got to photograph this team a few days ago and where else to take a running team but the hills of Dunbar Park.
Coach Parsley asked me to photographed her Cross Country Team again and of course I said yes! These kids are so much fun to work with! We headed out to Dunbar Park, which these kids are totally familiar with. Heck, they run around this place all the time. The waterfall wasn’t on so we took complete advantage of the exposed rocks to show off these great kids! Of course, you can view the full gallery by CLICKING HERE.
The one where Cooper plays Idalou
I went to a basketball game. I went to a good basketball game. Hello! It’s Cooper vs Idalou and when those two are together on the floor? It gets intense! And you get some scrappy souls that want nothing more then to beat the crap out of each other. These girls may be friends off the court, may even hang out together. the one with the Lubbock Cooper Pom Squad, 2018
How cute are these kids? I LOVE working with the Lubbock Cooper Pirate Pom Squad! They are so full of personality and energy and always so respectful and nice. And their sponsor/Coach, Amber is always so organized and helpful. This time, we met at the LUCA and immediately a rainstorm. HELLO! Like pouring flooding hard rain, WITH HAIL. But it only lasted about 20 minutes and we waited it out under the stage area. Afterward, everything smelled so good and clean and we just went on with your plans.
They use these images throughout the year to promote the squad and to make promotional posters. You know the ones you see in business on their walls? I'm always so excited to see them! Do anyone of you find yourself staring at all the posters? I do, constantly!
Best Wishes on an AWESOME school year, POM SQUAD!!! Maybe I'll see you at a game?!?!

It took FOREVER. I mean, come on, Prom was back in April?!?!? But finally, finally, after sifting through almost 10K images and color correcting, cropping and perfecting for all those sweet Pirates out there, I'm FINISHED! Did you hear that UNIVERSE? I finished the PROM GALLERY!

My Notes from this year...
- floral dresses were big. HUGE. As in HUGE skirts with bare midriffs and lots of pretty flowers. IT was like a garden in this joint. It really was.
- Decorations were the BEST! The Prom Committee didn't go for the cheesy cutouts and impossible structures that take a 1/2 a day to put together and typically don't mean a thing, and unfortunately, end up in the trash. Instead? Flowers on tables and uplighting. It was beautiful and pretty and oh they smelled lovely! Very impressed. Give yourselves a pat on those heavily tanned and glittery back, Prom Committee. LOVE!
- I need two Party Booths. Yep. I've said this before, in the last few years, but it's so true. With the growth we've had at Cooper, there's so many students now, it's time for another Party Booth that runs alongside this one. The line takes forever to get through and many of the students don't want to wait and would rather dance on the dance floor. I don't blame them. I need to invest in another Party Booth set up. This means, one thing... go buy pictures! Make it worth my while and I will invest in another set up so there's no line next year. I'll save my nickels!
- I don't get paid so, should I do this again? I mean, my kids aren't there, or even in Lubbock anymore and I still drag myself up there to work for 4 hours straight and no breaks. Every day after prom, when my prom-hangover hits, I tell myself, that's it. I'm done! I'm too old for this! This is the last one. No more. And then I start editing the photos and I get some much-needed rest and I forget how hard it is. Like labor, I forget when I see all the pretty pictures and fun moments. This booth really is so much fun! But I'm definitely thinking about this for next year.
- What do kids really want from prom photos? I mean, do they even want them? Like in print them and frame them for their room? Their memories? Or are they simply keeping them on their phones? Alongside the ones they made earlier in the night and shared on snapchat and Instagram. Maybe this thing, Prom Photos, is a dinosaur and it should be laid to rest? Not sure about that one. Thoughts? Share them below, I'd love to hear them!
- Super cool suits. A trend I noticed this year several times, less rented tuxes and more bought suits that fit super nice. Overall everyone looked superb! I gotta say, those boys looked nice. The suits fit well, and they had more options when trying to match their dates. Cool vests, nice tweeds, even some super slick pinstripes. Also, I didn't notice any Drew Khonle knock offs such as ruffles or tails or all one color with walking canes and top hats. Where were the top hats? For the most part, the boys played it safe and sharp. But I do miss me some Drew.
- not recognizing kids. This happened several times throughout the night! Many came up and introduced themselves because I honestly could NOT recognize them! I'm used to seeing them on the court, the sidelines, the stands, and in street attire, not full makeup and hair! It's always crazy to see how much they transform and grow up through the year. We've got some AWESOME kids at Cooper and it renews my faith in humanity to see them all having fun together and being happy.

These girls are pretty bad ass. I mean, COME ON! GORGEOUS and they know how to kick a ball. Definition of bad ass in my book. I photographed them back in December and have yet to attend one of their games, but that will change in the next few days. After photographing basketball last week, I'm itching for more games. I made it to a game last night. It immediately took me back to old days with my girls, watching them play and sweat, and the parents in the stands, screaming. Not so much screaming last night, but then again, they were winning. Thank you, Coach Lavorn for inviting me and congrats on the win!

Hi, Pirate Fans! Last night was Senior Night at the Lubbock Cooper Football Game and I photogarphed many of the graduates. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS YOUR PHOTOS. I'm so glad I got to be there and please invite me again in the future. I didn't take any game photos. And I'm sad about that, but I didn't have time to run back to my office and grab my sports gear, plus, HELLO! This girl didn't dress warm enough. Super excited they won so maybe I can make a playoff game? That would be AWESOME!!

I couldn't help myself. I had to post the girls in BW. I mean, we had gorgeous light, don't get me wrong and you know me. PROFESSIONAL LIGHT CHASER, but come on! These black and whites just do it for me. They give me my "photog fix" and make my heart happy in the best way!

Oh, to be in middle school again! I mean, when was the last time you had this much fun with your girlfriends? Maybe you shouldn't answer that. I know I have fun with my girlfriends and sometimes I have to delete my snapchat story when the sun comes up, but middle school is AWESOME! Or at least I look back on it and think that. You can experiment with crazy hairstyles and it doesn't matter. You aren't fully grown yet. You can try funky makeup or start new trends, and HELLO! Doesn't matter. #notfullygrown
I wish these girls could bottle up this fun and keep it with them through the hard times that are ahead. I wish they could keep full hearts of love for themselves and each other and not give into the "mean girl" syndrome. I'm praying that for them. I prayed that over them while I edited their cute adorable selves.
Thank you, Ashley Parr for contacting me to photograph the teams. I loved it! And major props to you and the coaches for having them ready and waiting when I accidentally went to the WRONG school. HELLO! I dodged all those potholes on Indiana driving the speed limit. Just thankful you didn't fire me on the spot when I showed up.

the one with the first LCHS pep rally of the season
Hello! It's Friday Night Lights time and I couldn't be more excited!!! BRING IT ON! Cooper had their first pep rally of the season last week. They KILLED Frenship at the game and I didn't have the chance to go, TCU called. But I darn sure made sure I was at the Pep Rallly. HELLO! I love me some Cooper Pep Rally!!!

the one where I hang out with the LCHS Yearbook Kids
Last year I missed out due to scheduling problems. This year? New instructor and we are coming during class time. PERFECT! So, despite the early rise, this week we pretty cool. I had to cram some f-stops, iso's, and shutter speeds into practical advice for kids to take and run with, but overall, I think things turned out pretty well. These first few images are mine. The last few? Ones they took after a quick lesson.
Great job, students! And remember, I'm here to help. I love getting others addicted to photography!
